“Caligula” is a drama concerning the evils of absolute power as it leads to corruption.

“The Misunderstanding” has an off-beat plot that is somewhat spoiled for the reader as the author’s preface divulges the climax. “What we have here is a lack of communication.”

According to some, “State of Siege” occurs during the two and one-half year siege of Cadiz by the French (1810-1812). It is Camus’ protest against totalitarianism, particularly that of Hitler and Franco. His character, first introduced as “The Man” and later as “The Plague,” represents the despot. It’s a bit too abstruse for me.

In “The Just Assassins” revolutionists are plotting a surgical strike against a Grand Duke in Czarist Russia. Be prepared for a great deal of philosophy and idealism.
