Books without a jacket are considered postable.   Is that the only thing "wrong" with them?   Can't you put them on your bookshelf if the only thing is that they are missing jackets?

Thank you for your post.  When I try to post books, I get the following message:

"I promise to follow the Golden Book Rule: My books have front and back covers, all pages, no liquid damage, no writing or highlighting, are not Advanced Reader Copies (ARCs), and my books are in generally good condition."

I don't mean to be stupid, but aren't front and back covers the same as a dust jacket?  Maybe someone can clarify?  I would love to get these out of my house!  Thank you!

All of the information below apply both to swapping for credits and Box-O-Books swapping.

General remarks:

• This is a used-book swapping site; books are not expected to be in like-new condition.
  • Older books may have some page yellowing or spine-creasing or dogeared pages; these are all OKAY.
  • Decirculated library books may have various markings and/or stamps inside or outside or on the page edges of the book; this is OKAY. These may not obscure text.
  • BookCrossing books may have stickers or stamps or markings on the outside or inside covers or page edges of the book; this is OKAY.These may not obscure text.
  • Hardbacks do NOT have to include their dustjackets.
  • Audiobooks MUST be the original cassettes/CDs, but do NOT have to include the outer "box" that held the set.
  • Audiobooks must be playable and have all the CDs/cassettes.
  • Books that require batteries to work do NOT have to have working batteries.
  • "Playaway" books must include working headphones.
  • There is an exception to general condition guidelines for textbooks; see below.
  • There is an exception to general condition guidelines for cookbooks; see below.
  • There is an exception to general condition guidelines for travel guides; see below.

The dust jacket is not considered part of the cover.  It is separate.  Also, Best Laid Plans is a WL book so if you post your copy is should be requested quickly. 

That's what I got from the help section.  There's a difference between the actual front and back covers and dust jackets for hard back books, according to that statement above.  If you are saying the entire front or back covers are torn off, then that's unpostable.  But you're just talking about dust jackets?  That's OK not to have.

I've only been here a month, but I have sent out many hard back books with no dust jackets, and no one has said a thing.

I predict you will be able to get rid of some of your books now!
