This is quite different for Auntie Agatha: no Marple, or Poirot; no Parker Pyne, no detective. It’s more of a quasi spy novel. A girl (beautiful, naturally) is canned for being an incompetent typist. She meets a “nice guy” by chance and follows him to Baghdad in spite of the fact that she is near destitute. Why not? Anyway there is to be a big conference there—who the players are is rather vague until the end. Are they good guys or bad guys? (We are led to believe it is the bad guys.) somehow she gets wound up as a sort of spy in a scheme of world conquest (not quite Ian Fleming, but you get the idea). It isn’t one of her best novels, but a good fill-in around some serious reading.
