I have been watching Merlin with my family and I have realized how little I know about the legand of Camelot.  Can anyone recomend a good book that sticks close to the legand of Camelot?  Thank you.

Not sure how close it sticks to the legend, but I absolutely LOVED Mary Stewart's Merlin series.

T.H. White's The Once and Future King is excellent.

Mary Stewart's series is a good start. IIRC she takes out a lot of the magic and hocus pocus. Been a few years though. I also liked Nancy McKenzie's Queen of Camelot and Grail Prince, but not up to snuff enough on the legends to tell you how close she stays to the legends. I love Joan Wolf's Road to Avalon, but that she does take a different path from most of the others. Doesn't Bernard Cornwell have an Arthurian series?

If you enjoy YA, there's an excellent series by Gerald Morris that starts with The Squire's Tale

I believe the original King Arthur story is L'Morte d'Arthur by Sir Thomas Mallory.

I also recommend The Mists of Avalon by the late Marion Zimmer Bradley.

One of my favorites - and this is an oldie - is "Lionors" by Barbara Ferry Johnson
