I love being out in the middle of the woods somewhere...and camping season is finally here!!!!  Time for some recharging of the batteries LOL!!!  I feel so good after being out there for days just basking in all the natural energies...Once the warm weather hits I am outside as much as possible...I notice that my pain level is lower if I am able to get outdoors and into the woods or near water....Water has a similar effect on me, so I also like to go to beaches to bask...lol...I love swimming, I practically live in the water during the warm weather...and in my bath tub in the cold season..lol...

Yay, camping season is here!!!

Oh, I am sooo with you!!  DH is changing his job, so we will have more time to do stuff in nature like we used to "before kid".  I love being at the beach, especially.  We haven't hiked off-trail, nor camped since we adopted J - I am missing it!!

I'm a theist-leaning agnostic, but I always feel "at home" outdoors - and see "God" in many things in nature.  I often hope that some day there will be no struggle between creationists and evolutionists because to me both theories make so much sense in so many different ways - and there is evidence (for me at least)  that both exist.

How cool for you guys!  More time to do the fun stuff!  DD is a nature baby too, lol ..and , like me, she LOVES the beach...

She has been collecting money for our local animal shelter, and when we are out at parks or wherever she will pick up garbage if she sees it and has no qualms about letting people know if they 'accidently dropped something' (heavy sarcasm on the accidently) LOL  She will even tell her friends, and that is pretty cool because at this age (8) they tend to be a little worried about looking cool for other kids...not her...lol..she'll go after anyone! LOL

I agree..

You will be surprised at how many of the "seeds" you plant now will stick with her.  My BFF's daughter is 22 now, a total environmentalist, an activist for women's rights and working as an AIDS educator - and all those years ago, we were worried that she wasn't listening...HA!  If we only knew then what we know now, LOL....

I love camping (okay, except for the potty part).  All that fresh air and the sounds of nature....it is so invigorating.  This is the perfect time of year for a camping trip.  I think if more people participated in camping trips, they would have a greater appreciation for the earth.

LOL

DD is a little feminist in training....let some boy try to tell her what to do or that she can't do something and she grows horns..lol

I love going camping as well.  We didn't get to do much last summer, because my baby was too little, and would cry all night.  Not very relaxing!

I wonder if part of the feeling of being so refreshed after camping comes from being able to lay your every day worries aside, and to just truly relax.

I'm kind of weird about camping.  It's not something I'll initiate myself, I would never suggest a camping trip as a vacation idea.  But when someone else initiates it, I'm in and I'll rough it 100%.  Last year I got to spend 10 days in the Costa Rican rainforest and I loved everything about it, from breakfasting on rice & beans to the bats and the time there was a poisonous tercipelo snake under the outhouse steps.  Other people were really bothered by the bugs, but I'm a bug-lover so that wasn't a problem.  And who wouldn't enjoy being woken up in the morning by howler monkeys?  >sigh< that was the last time I did any camping, but maybe I'll do something more local this summer...maybe I'll try planning it this time.

I am terrified of the thought of camping. I love being outside but only during day light hours. It's a weird quirk I guess. I was once in a park in a very suburban area, right next to a highway and I was walking to my car. The sun went down and I got so panicked because I was in a wooded area in the dark. I was in tears by the time I got to my car. I can't imagine spending all night outside, tent or no tent.  I wish I wasn't scared though, as everything else about it seems really fun!

I blame the Wizard of Oz! haha

Ok Vanessa, I'm officially jealous!!

A friend of mine who has traveled literally all over the world (he's a serpentologist) said that Costa Rica was by far the most beautiful in so many ways.  He made it sound like paradise.

Maybe someday.  SIgh. :)
