Hello.. I recently accepted a book request for a hardcover book. When I went to wrap it, I saw that it did not have the dust cover. I PMed the requester 2 days ago asking if she would still like the book without the cover, or if she would like me to cancel the request for a credit refund. I haven't heard back yet and my time limit for sending the book is running out. Should I just mail it without the dust cover or cancel it?
Thanks!! |

Unless she has an RC that requires dust covers, I'd go ahead and mail it. What you did by PMing her was a courtesy, but not a necessity. |

What they said. Dust jackets are not required, and unless the requester has an RC, the lack does not make your book unpostable.

Thank you for the replies! I will mail it :) |

Foe future reference or anyone else in this situation. If you want to be nice and pm them, I would state: Your just letting them know, that this is still postable, and ask for a response within so many hours or you will go ahead and mail as planned. |

Also if you as sender were the one that cancelled the request, you would go to the back of the first in?first out line. |

And that's kind of the problem that arises when pm'ing regarding postable books. If they do no respond, do you mail or not? Because without a DC to decline, if the sender cancels the transaction then her book is removed from her bookshelf and she looses her place FIFO. |

I don't PM over books for the reasons Denise gives. If they want a dust jacket or anything beyond PBS rules than they should have a clearly worded RC for whatever they want. |
