I was #1 in the wl line for a book.  Was notified it had been posted and replied right away.  Sender then did the "will mail by" option right away.  I then got a pm that she just noticed it's an ARC and she wanted to know if I wanted it and I told her no since I wouldn't be able to repost it here.  How do I get my credit back and get my place in line again?  I can't cancel on my end....since it hasn't actually been mailed yet can the sender still cancel or will this have to time itself out?

Hi Michelle,

 This is actually info for the sender, okay?  You might want to give her this info in your PM to her.

  • From the PBS Help Center:

    To cancel a request that you have made or that you have accepted but now cannot send, click CANCEL ORDER on the active request on the Books to be Mailed tab in My Account.

  • If you are the sender and need to cancel a book after you have marked it mailed

    • Please contact us and specify the book title, so that we can cancel the transaction for you.\

    The sender hasn't marked it mailed, so the sender needs to cancel the transaction.

    The sender should cancel the transaction. It is an upostable book. If she doesn't do it in a timely manner to get you back to #1 in the WL line right away, contact R&R to cancel it.

    All is well.  Sender canceled and I got my credit back and am back in place.  So glad it went so smoothly!!

    I have had to cancel a couple of boooks that were requested from me recently----mostly that I  couldn't find.  (I have no idea where they went, though I think other family members "borrowed" them)  I have always sent a PM to the requestor before cancelling them---sometimes offfering other books that I have by the same author, or even offering a deal from my shelf if I let it sit awhile while I was looking for it.  You have to send the PM before you cancel it, though----I guess you could dig it up from the "transaction archive" but that is more of a pain to do.  This way the requestor retains their place in the FIFO line, in case it is a wished book.
