Not as good as his fabulous memoir, but a lot of fun nonetheless; his wit and acerbic humor--as well as his sweetness--shines throughout!

When I bought this book I was disappointed when I got it home. It wasn't a second memoir. I loved his first book (a memoir called I Am Not Myself These Days). It was an honest easy to read book. The author seemed like someone I wanted to hang around and have a beer with ;)

So, I get this home and it's fiction. His first fiction book (2nd book all together). I was a little disappointed, but what the heck right... ?

I didn't hate it. I actually kind of liked it. The author is just so... I hate to say "cute", but his writing is, well, cute. He has a knack for making me smile and this book was no different. The 80s references - Dallasty! - Madonna - all of it, made me smile. The story was decent, it could have used a little more "oomph" here and there, but overall, it was a good first fiction book.

If you are looking for some deep literary "stuff", keep on going, this book is not for you, but if you like your life a little fun and quirky, give it a whirl.

... I still await a 2nd memoir though - I know, he says in the back that he doesn't have much to say, but I bet he does from where his last one left off. :)

Josh Kilmer-Purcell has a fun writing style, it is light, sarcastic and a lot of fun to read. I enjoyed his memoir and this 2nd book (which is fiction) is a blast. I read this in a weekend, the story was fast moving, and the characters were just nuts (in a good fun way). cant wait to read his next book!

Another great book by the star of I Am Not Myself These Days. This chronicles his early formative years. What a hoot!
