Back blurb:
"In aristocractic Regency England, it was most uncommon for a young lady to propose marriage-- but there was nothing common about beautiful, headstrong Heather Mallory. Since only a marriage would save the fortune she had inherited, she asked the dashing, but impoverished, Lord Ian Cardross to be her husband. She would give him money to save his family estate, if in return he would grant her the freedom she valued above all else.
Little did Heather suspect that love would enter the bargain she struck with this handsome, arrogant man. Her stubborn pride warred with her awakened passion as she plunged into a treacherous game of wits and wisdom against a glamorous rival who sought to ruin Heather's reputation and future happiness."
A pleasant read for such an old bk. Hero is responsible for his nephew. This young boy really becomes attached to the heroine as a mother figure. Their interactions provided some extra sweet moments for the novel.
