Incredible! Caressed by Ice is the 3rd book in Nalini Singh's Psy-Changeling series. I was lucky enough to be chosen to post an early review and I have to say this book exceeded my high expectations. I thought the Psy-Changeling world couldn't get any better. . .Wow was I wrong! Anyone who doubts a Psy male can equal a changeling male in sexiness and alpha male yummy-ness be assured Judd, the elite Psy soldier, more than earns his own alpha male category!
Judd's background story is finally revealed and his family members' back story is explored further. There is even a startling revelation about Hawke that really makes for an exciting development for that sexy wolve's future story.
The connection and desire between Judd and Brenna is just scorching! I loved how Brenna wouldn't let Judd ignore what was between them and how even as Judd struggled to stay away, he always sought her out.
Every scene with Judd and Brenna carried an intensity that has become a trademark for Singh's work. In actuality each character's interaction from Brenn's brothers and packmates to Judd's niece is just so poignant.
The plot moves along fast as we find ourselves in a sort of quest by Brenn and Judd to figure out what her kidnapper (from Visions of Heat, 2nd book in series) has done to her mind.
The political agenda of the Psy council is a continuing engrossing subplot, its like watching a chess game. This story delves further into the Councils underhanded dealings and the changelings counter moves. Singh pulls the reader into the story by creating a graphic world with gripping characters.

I hate leaving Singh's world when I've finished her book but I look forward to my next visit!
This book is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Along with her previous two books, Slave to Sensation and Visions of Heat.

Nalini Singh continues to impress me with her romance novels. I'm not a fan of the genre as a rule, but the supernatural element of the Psy-Changeling series intrigued me. I've read the first two - Slave to Sensation and Visions of Heat - and Caressed By Ice is my favorite thus far.

This book introduces the reader to the SnowDancer wolf pack, after spending the first two novels with the DarkRiver cats. I like the wolves. They manage to be obsessed with touch like the cats, but in a subtler way. Judd, while unfortunately named, is the most fascinating Psy character to date. Silence hasn't stifled his power like it did to Faith and Sasha, it's actually necessary to help him control the violent, destructive nature of his power. His internal physical, emotional and psychic struggle as he falls in love with Brenna makes for a fantastic read. While I felt that Sasha and in some ways Faith almost became Changling in their mating with Lucas and Vaughn, even in love with Brenna, Judd is still 100% Psy.

Brenna makes a good match for Judd, although she is a typical heroine. Feisty, headstrong, emotionally damaged from her torture by Enrique in book one, Brenna does have a journey as a character. We learn more about the horrors and lasting damage she suffered at the hands of the Psy which ironically is the basis of why she is drawn to Judd. They are made for each other in the sense that Judd's Psy tendencies push her out of several emotional breakdowns in a way the Changlings never could.

This is Judd's book, however, and rightly so as we also learn that he has been working as a resistence fighter of sorts with a Psy known only as The Ghost. Together, Judd and the Ghost set about dismantling various Psy Council projects. Also interesting is an increased focus on the Psy Council and the innerworkings of a group of minds striving for personal power, wealth and dominance. I give kudos to Singh because I actually believe that any one of the Psy Council would turn on and terminate any other member or psy to get ahead.

I look forward to continuing with the series.

This was an excellent book. I believe this is the third in the series of the Psy and the Changlings. Lots of intrigue and mushy stuff. I can't wait for her next book to be released.

Possibly the best in the series. This was a delicious and slightly different story in the Psy-Changelings series. Judd Lauren is a Psy Arrow who despite his defection from the Psy-Net and Psy culture maintains the Silence, the complete control and removal of feeling - physical and emotional. However he can't help his connection to Brenna, the Changeling whom he helped rescue from a mad Psy serial killer (in book 1).

We are immersed in the Wolf Pack in this book and learn the backstory of the Lauren family. We get to know more about a few other wolves and especially Hawk, for whom this reader is eagerly awaiting Hawk's own book!

The book has a number of diversions into the mind of the bad guy of this story, into the business of the Psy and the Psy Council, and even some visits with Faith & Vaughn and Sascha & Lucas. While the visits with old favorites were pleasing, all the business with the Psy Council seemed superfulous and didn't add anything to the story. I presume Nalini Singh is building background for future story but it slowed the action and didn't seem to have anything to do with the main love story.

Judd is an interesting character because he is so hard and cold and unable/unwilling to leave the Silence. His abilities are scary and in his estimation very dangerous and only used for bad. His inexplicable attachment to and need for Brenna is compelling and his total alpha male, dominant personality is sexy.

The main difference in this book is that the build to the sexual aspect to the relationship took the entire book. There was almost no sensuality until the last few chapters. It was okay, it seemed like Singh had to develop these characters and their relationship carefully. But the pacing was different.

Overall another great addition to the Psy-Changelings series. Can't wait for the next.

A fun third book in the Psy-Changling series. This books takes us closer to Brenna, a changeling who was badly hurt by a serial killer in the first book, and Judd, one of the Psy who escaped the PsyNet when the whole family was sentenced to rehabilitation.

I liked that this book took a closer look at the potential good sides of Silence - Judd has a special talent that ruined the lives of people with it pre-Silence, as it was highly easy to misuse during moments of strong emotions. It's interesting to watch Judd slowly work through how much of Silence he really needs to keep everyone around him safe.

Brenna's part of the story of course focuses on her attempts to reclaim a normal life after what happened to her. I loved her stubbornness in pursuing Judd once she'd decided she wanted him, as well as her strength in learning to live again.

I am really impressed with this series. I am a faithful fan and will read each book in this series with that excitement it gives as all the pieces fall into place by the end of the book. The PsyNet is a unique and terrifying network, reminds me of "big brother" watching it's citizens for any deviation from acceptable behavior from the earliest of science fiction writers (1984). Very creative . . . and there are Changlings (Wolves, Tigers and Bears oh yeah . . okay no bears yet). ; }

This series is great. I think I'm almost done with it and will miss the authors intricate love stories. I liked this one because the changeling was the female character and the Psy was the male. The male was still very dominant and demanding, which is why the characters are oh so sexy :)
