An absolutely enthralling story of Nathaniel Bowditch, who went from an indentured servant as a teenager to one of the most well-known and brilliant men who changed the course of navigation (pun intended).

This is one of our family's favorite read-aloud books. It is a great lesson on taking your education into your own hands and being persistent.
