This historical novel brings the American West (1830's) to life, with descriptions of buffolo hunts, moccasin making and surviving in the Rockies. The author has the grace and beauty of a natural storyteller with a complete dedication to historical accuracy and authenticity.

An interesting look into pioneer times, but rather slow moving. I had trouble getting through this one.

This is the first time I have read a book by this author. I grew up around the area he talks about and I could picture the area. If you like stories about old mountain men this is your book.

Great Western. Titus Bass is the main character and the venue is set mostly in the western mountains. Lots of fighting, troubles, rewards, surprises. A more authentic mountain man series reminiscent of LaMour's writing as its's apparent Johnston researched the times, lives and localities to make his book factual and well described. If you're a western fan, you'll like it. Just remember its not a quick 100 page robot written series. You'll like it!
