The world's first (and only) "paranormal detective" investigates the first (but not only!) murder on the Orient Express as the "Train of Spies" hurtles across Europe on the Eve of WWI. Real and fictional characters and events create a mix that rattles right along with it. I finished in one evening.

Nice mystery set on Orient Express. Reminds me of Christie and James Buchan.

An inconsequential book, okay if there's absolutely nothing else to read. Supernatural element is downplayed to point of being as insubstantial as the supposed phantom. Cast of characters including famous real people is a distraction, not a bonus.

The ghost of a young bride is haunting the Orient Express and Professor John Darnell, the world's first and only "paranormal detective" agrees to take the case. He and his new wife, Pnny have yet to take their honeymoon and what better way to spend it than in the company of the elite-including a sultry spy, a Rumanian prince, a foreboding psychic - and perhaps a ghostly apparation? But as they traverse the European countryside in the months before WWI, Darnell's decision to mix business with pleasure may prove a deadly mistake...
