Back cover: "You can't fingerprint me," Virginia Baxter said, pulling back her hand.
"You can call an attorney, if you wish," the policewoman said.
In a few moments she had Della Street on the line. The words came rushing out: "I'm Virginia Baxter. Mr. Mason may remember me. I've been arrested for having narcotics in my possession. I need Mr. Mason at once!"
A moment later, Perry Mason's deep voice said: "Where are you, Miss Baxter?"
"I'm at headquarters."
"Never mind trying to explain over the telephone," Mason said. "Don't say anything to anyone except to tell them to hold you right there. I'm on my way."
