In a PM conversation with another member, I remembered a book I read about a cat who was wounded and lost both front legs.  I have the vague impression his name might be Mr Whiskers.

He learned to get along very well on his hind legs, making mighty jumps to cover territory.  I think maybe when he was first hurt they built a miniature 2-wheel wagon for the front part of his body.

My best guess as to age is that it was in bookstores as a thin paperback in the late 60's or early 70s.  I tried to find it in Amazon, with so far no success.  Looked pretty carefully though the PBS genre for Cats, and saw nothing I recognized.

Can someone help?  Do you remember?  Thank you.

A web search turned up the following:

One of the earliest accounts of a double amputee cat with no fore legs can be found in Philip Brown's book "Uncle Whiskers" (1970s, out of print, but sometimes turns up at secondhand book stores or jumble sales). To protect his healing stumps, Uncle Whiskers was originally fitted with leather "boots".

Amazon has used copies available.
