Like all the Cat Who books, this one adds a little to the background of the characters. It wasn't my favorite of the storylines, but it's still a nice read.

A Jim Qwilleram with his two Siamese cats mystery. Qwill needs time off to decide whether he wants to remain in Moose County and the Town of Pickaxe, so he takes a vacation to the Potato Mountains for the summer so he can be alone and decide what to do, istead of peace and quiet, he finds an area split between those favoring development of the area and those who oppose it,strained relationships between those who consider themselves the social betters of others in the area, and a man falsely imprisoned for murdering a prominent man of the community.

One of the better Qwilleran stories. Qwill's on top of the world when he rents a house on Big Potato Mountain. The owner, JJ Hawkinfield, brought real estate development to the once peaceful Potatoes. But Hawkinfield paid a steep price for his enterprise, he was pushed off a cliff by an angry mountain dweller. Qwilleran, however, suspects the man is innocent - and Koko's antics have him convinced something's wrong. He may be making a mountain out of a molehill, but he's determined to find the truth. Even if it means jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire!
