I liked this book! This is one in a long series of books about Qwilleran, a journalist who is semi-retired who lives in Pickax, a small town "400 miles north of everywhere" who gets involved in local mysteries and receives the help of his smart Siamese cat, Koko, who senses things and communicates with yowls and tail wagging and other such things.
This is my second one. It doesn't seem important to read them in order. (And I am not sure Qwilleran lives in Pickax in every book.)
Qwill is well-read, likes good food, doesn't drink, smoke or cuss. He is a devoted companion to the head librarian. The townfolk are mostly likeable, with some eccentrics thrown in, as you would expect.
This one is about petty thefts, historical renovations, charming men and a beautiful but annoying woman who tries too hard. Oh, and a couple of deaths.
I was interested in the story, read it quickly and will probably read others!
A great read for mystery lovers and cat lovers.
Another one of her long series with Koko and Yum Yum...always good.
There's a rash of petty thievery in Pickax-ever since banker Willard Carmichael and his flashy young wife Danielle moved to town. But now Willard's been killed in a mugging Down Below...or so it seems. Qwill has his suspicions, especially when Willard's house restoration project falls into the hands of Danielle's cousin - whoe new rich wife then dies on her honeymoon!
Great light listening..Mason Adams does a good job on the read
This is very entertaining! My first of the "Cat Who" books and not the last. Just a lot of fun to listen to.
An easy listen to on my daily commute/
This is a 4 book Reader's Digest Condensed Book... Along with this book is Beyond Recognition by Ridley Pearson, A Women's Place by barbara Delinsky, and The Unlikely Spy by Daniel Silva
I read all the books in this light-hearted series one after another and really enjoyed them. The cat KoKo and his feline partner, Yum Yum, are endearing. Their owner is a former newspaper reporter, James Qwilleran. They live in a small town with lots of interesting residents. James can't seem to avoid murders though he sure would like to. The series ended abruptly with unresolved relationships due to the author's death at 97.
Another great cozy mystery with Koko capturing the murderer. This was has many interesting cat names ... as well as Polly changing her cat's name. This one begins mentioning Quill's book on Short and Tall Tales which Braun published separately a few years later.
another tale from pickax-always fun to listen to
I truly enjoy the "Cat Who" books "with reporter Jim
Qwilleran and his extraordinary Siamese cats Koko and Yum Yum--the most unlikely, most delightful team in detective fiction!"
This is a great book for you to read if you love Lilian Jackson Braun's 'The Cat Who Series'. With it's mystery of "Who Did It?" it'll keep you excited and wanting to read more and more to find out who did it.
This is cute story to read, all of her books are.
The cats steal the show and with their help, the prizewinning reporter intends to catch a thief and a killer.
Delightful...The cats steal the show" from San Francisco Chronicle.
This was another great The Cat Who... series. Lillian Jackson braun does a great job of weaving the tale in this mystery. This is an easy read and enjoyable book. Quinn is in charge of a Decorative series at the newpaper and the list of new characters is endless. I recommend. Barbar
not sure what to say as I got this for my wife but I know she really likes this series
Another great book! I just love this series. Qwill and the two cats, Koko and Yum Yum, are once again on the trail of a swindler and murderer. With its twists and turns, this book keeps you guessing until the very end.
Small items begin to disappear & residents of Pickax are up in arms. The pilfering began when banker Willard Carmichael & flashy young wife moved to Pickax. The banker is murdered, the young wife's "cousin" comes to town & marries Polly's sister in law who becomes ill. Qwill's mustache quivers, koko yowls & Yum-yum hides under the rug - evil is afoot in Moose County & with the help of a fortuitous flash flood, guess who brings the perpetrators to light?
Dirks, quirks & the zany, colorful characters of the county abound along with small & tall tales of the area's checkered history.
i love every book in this series..
Another great tale of Koko and Yum Yum solving a mystery - I love these books and have read every one!
PICKAX IS NOT AMUNIED TO CON-MAN.
