This book was hysterical. I snickered through the whole thing, although at times I really felt sad for the plight of the the characters. There were a few sexy scenes, but I was able to skip over them without losing any understqanding of the plot.

Wonderful novel, great story behind the romance
A little bit of sexual content but not graphic. It was a good story. I enjoyed the plot...very exciting. Mystery, romance, a shooting at the very beginning...what could anyone ask for more? It has an interesting plot twist for the ending. Not just they typical they fall in love and get married.
A fun who's who and who's not romantic storyline. Lots of wonderful adventure and tension. A really good read.
This story borders on the absurdly silly but it qualifies as a "to read" if one is desperate for an escape that requires no thinking.

I've read several Julia Quinn books now, and while the story lines are somewhat predictable, she manages to throw a twist in now & then. The best part about reading her books is the humor! The heroine in this book is creating her own personal dictionary, writing down unusual words & using them in a sentence that Quinn records at the beginning of each chapter. It's just hilarious! This was a very enjoyable read!
This book is terrible. I like J. Garwood, L.Spencer, K.Woodiwiss much better, but have read a few J. Quinn books. They never quite stack up to some of the greats, but for the most part haven't been too bad. I'm actually about half way through this book, and for the first time in my leisure reading history I'm debating on whether or not to finish it. The characters are a bit annoying and the plot could have been good, but was quickly botched up terribly. The main characters jump from tolerating each other to all of a sudden, out of nowhere, madly in love. (And, quite frankly, it's difficult to imagine ANYONE falling in love with either of them!!) Granted, several romance novels have characters falling madly in love right away, but this one is particularly bad. Gosh, even as I'm writing this review I keep thinking of example after example of scenes in this book that were just BAD!!! I like books with interesting and somewhat complex characters and situations. This book simply has bad characters, a bad storyline and poor choice of diction.
This book gave a different perspective on Ms. Quinn's typical "The London elite" -- parties, balls, dresses, gentlemen -- instead, the male lead is a spy working for the war office, and the female lead is mistaken for a spy.
The storyline is a little wanting -- I feel as though the male lead is a little dense, going along with assumptions when he should be looking at the facts -- but all in all, a refreshing change for Ms. Quinn. The follow-up, "How to Marry a Marquis," is better.

Loved this book. The main characters were great. I loved the heroine. The dialogue was witty, charming, funny and sad at times. But this was a fantastic book.

This is a light, fun read. I didn't love it as much as J. Quinn's other novels, but I definitely enjoyed it.
Fun and interesting characters, especially the heroin. Very much enjoyed the book!
A light read with plenty of good humor. The plot is a forgone conclusion after the second chapter, but as I liked the characters so much, I didn't mind. And I was edified as I read the teaser line at the beginning of each chapter. (a good vocabulary builder ) A good book to pick up for a day at the beach.
Awesome book! Read it cover to cover in no time!
