Annoying book. I like cats but I hate mixing up Egyptian mythology and werewolves this way... I get the feeling there is either a prequel or a sequel or both that may be better. I did not like most of the characters in this book, blah, finished it because I bought it at full price from Borders and was hoping it would get better near the end.

Shape-shifting cats compete for a woman's love, two brothers, 1 light and 1 dark, with Egyptian elements...

if you take Bram Stoker's Dracula, Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes , Stephen King's Sleepwalkers, and a big stinky load of victorian themed drivel you have this book.

the story was poorly written, the rip off of Sherlock Holmes by usings a female detective Shelly Holmes is blantant. and the men that turn into cats thing wasnt even done well. if that's the kinda thing you like try Rachel Vincent's novels. MUCH better.

From Booklist
As a psychic investigator, Shelley Holmes is used to dealing with the supernatural, but her latest case may be her most unusual yet. Beautiful and innocent Lady Arielle Blaylock is haunted by dreams of a golden "lion man," who attempts to seduce her, and lately the lines between her dreams and reality are blurring. Not only has Arielle been waking up with mysterious scratch marks, which eerily resemble those found on the bodies of three women found murdered in Victorian London, but Arielle is also being courted by Luke Simball and Seth Taub, both of who resemble the mysterious lion man of her dreams. Soon Arielle finds herself caught up in a deadly romantic triangle as these two very different men battle for Arielle and her very soul. After triumphing over werewolves and vampires, the redoubtable Miss Holmes returns for her third deliciously entertaining paranormal adventure, and Shannon's potent blend of Egyptian myth, simmering sensuality, subtle wit, and imaginative storytelling will cast a spell of its own.

Shelley Holmes was accustomed to the bizarre. Such phenomena as werewolves and vampires held no suprises for her. But in all her years of investigating the paranormal, she had never run across a case like this one...

Beautiful Arielle Blaylock was a proper Victorian miss by day, but a daring wanton by night. In her dreams she seemed to enter another life, one where sorcery and sensuality held sway. But how was it possible that the happenings of that shadow world were beginning to manifest themselves in realty? What was the significance of the Egyptian cat amulet she wore at her throat? And of the two mystical beings who fought to seduce her. Which was destined to be her lover... the creature of the light or the one of darkness? As her midnight wanderings became ever more alluring, arielle found herself lost in a maze of danger and desire where one misstep might mean the end of love and life.
