How do you all feel about changing the rules for challenge #2 slightly to include the names of characters (first and last) and other words in the title (besides the first word)? I don't want to change the rules in mid-play without consensus from the group. But I'm starting to bump up against books I'd like to read, but I've already used the letter. Am I the only one?

No, You are not the only one in this predicament, Genie. Your suggestion would be fine by me!!!

I guess I liked looking for books although I must admit finding books for some letters kept me moving books around.  I think my list is pretty settled unless one of the books I've ordered doesn't come through.  Doing it this way has made me stretch into some areas and look at authors I might not have considered otherwise.

I don't have a problem with it.

Finding books for all the letters kept me moving them around, too. I'll probably still make a few changes before it's over.

Another alteration that might help is if we allow the author's middle name or initial (if they use them) to count for any letter, not just the X and Y, or whatever it was that we originally decided.  That way, Here Be Dragons by Sharon Kay Penman can be used for H, S, K, or P.

I'm fine with whatever is decided. I think I'll probably stick to the original rules so that I am forced to look around a bit in my vast collection and read stuff I may keep on passing by, however it would be nice to have an "out" if I start stuggling to find books.  I haven't made as much headway as I would like on this challenge as for some reason I've been reading books that I've already used the letters for.  LOL! I've got a good dent in the HF Challenge #1, though, so for awhile now I may concentrate on challenge 2.

Like Bigstone and Shelley, I'll stick to the original rules and my list -- but if you all want to cheat change the rules, it's fine by me.

I'll probably stick to my own plan, which was much stricter than the rules: I'm not using any overlap between the two challenges.  And I'm sticking to all from titles, no authors.

OK, great, we've got a tie! LOL!

Anyone else have an opinion?

Genie - I think what most people are saying is that they don't care. You can modify the rules. Some of us will take advantage of it; some of us will stick with the old rules.  I don't think we're THAT competitive around here, are we?  LOL!!

Oh, Genie -- You'd make a terrible tyrant. Don't you know that since you set the rules, you can change them at whim?!?! Just proclaim any dang rules you please -- and the rest of us will abide by them (or not)....

The worst that can happen is that we won't let you devise the Challenge again -- or is that your plan? So, maybe we'll make you our Challenge Coordinator indefinitely!!! ;)

I will probably also stick to my original list.  I've had the same trouble with reading books that don't fit the challenge, but also came up with a list that included each letter and am going to try to stick with it.  I think that's what makes it a "challenge"!  But, like the others have said, I'm not going to revolt if you guys decide to change the rules!

LOL! Got it. I should strive to emulate Valli.

OK, I'm going to expand the rules for challenge #2. I'll edit the posting where we post our lists. Have fun, y'all!
