I have a book going to Hawaii. It weighs less than 9 ounces so I thought I would send it First Class since it isn't that much more expensive.

However, I use PBS postage and I can't figure out how to change it. It is automatically giving me Media Mail because it is cheaper. Is there any way to change it or do I have to go to the PO to mail it?

You can cover up the media mail and then just add stamps to make up the difference.  You can figure out the correct postage at the USPO website.  You can add stamps to printed postage-I've done it alot because I send out a lot of freebies with orders and can never remember to pad the weight when I use the PBS postage.

Other than that I don't think there is a way. It would be nice if it gave the option of bumping up to 1st class. On Paypal you can ask it which mail rate you want to use.  If you choose media it puts up a little reminder of what is media mail.

You can lie to the printing options page and say it weighs 5 ounces. It will print the 'wrong' postage amount, but that will get covered with a stamp, and the package will say FIRST CLASS.

Don't change the permanent book data though!

Edit - I didn't notice the part about printable postage. I'd skip printable postage this go-round.

Thanks for the suggestions Mary.

I think I will make a suggestion that they add the option you mentioned to bump it up to First Class.

Thanks Rick. I am going to do what you said, make the weight less so the label will print out first class and skip the printable postage.

I will have to go to the PO though, since I don't have the right stamps. Maybe I should pick up a few small ones in case this situation happens again.

Thoughtful of you M Leslie, I'm sure our fellow PBS members in Hawaii appreciate your consideration
