I recieved a copy of "The Mistress of the Art of Death" and it has significant water damage and what looks like mold.  I'm even one of those supposedly "offensive and annoying" people who reiterate the PBS posting & trading standards in a Request Condition.  I simply ask that the books get double-checked to make sure they are ok.  There was no way sending member could have missed the damage.

So, that's pretty annoying in and of itself.  I report the book RWP, did not meet RC.  Now it's been a LONG TIME since I've had to do that---and I'm not happy about the fact that if I want a copy of this book through PBS, I have to get back to the end of the line and be #87 instead of being put back at the head of the line.  It doesn't seem fair.  I waited for the book, had an RC which was ignored, and now I have to either wait over a year again or go buy it full price which is what I was trying to avoid in the first place.  I'm frustrated.

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience.  Would you be able to request a copy at your local library?  That's what I generally do when I'm at the beginning of a large group of people who are on the WL.

Yeah, I could look into borrowing it, but this is the sort of book I'd want to read and keep.  Well, my TBR pile will keep my busy enough for a time.  Thanks :).

Lissette, you can use the "Contact Us" and request that you be placed back at the front of the WL line. It can't hurt, right? As I understand it, they will often accommodate if the book was marked RWAP.

Now, I'd like to make a suggestion. If the book doesn't meet basic PBS criteria, you should use the standard "RWAP, Damaged by Sender". This is because (even though you only reiterate book conditions in your guidelines) the basic PBS criteria weren't met. If you mark "Does not meet conditions" it implies that the book met basic PBS criteria but that the person didn't meet any additional criteria you had in your conditions.

I hope that makes sense.

Oh, thanks Jane!  I wasn't sure which reason to pick, guess I went with the wrong one!

I just made this mistake Jane.

Don't want to hijack so I started a new thread, you can check out Returning Unpostable Books? if you want the full story.

Well, i got my credit back, so that's good.  He said that he did see the dark stain on the book, but that it wasn't mold.  Sigh, I politely let hime know all the issues that should prevent him from posting a book in the system.  He's new, so, hopefully it was just a newbie mistake.  Thanks for the comments/advice!

You should definitely do this and explain the situation. I've done this several times when I had problems with wishlisted books, and I've always been given my place back in line.
