I read this with my 6 year old daughter. Our favorite part is when Charlotte wants Wilber (the pig) to run around to see if he looks "radient". After several silly instructions, she tells him to do a half-twist with a back flip - which he did. My daughter still laughs about that! A very sweet book to read with your children.

Great childrens book. A good read aloud for the classroom, goodnight story or a first chapter book for a 3rd or 4th grader.

Nothing like the movie.

I had to read this book for a Children's Literature class. It's not one that I would have chosen on my own. I've heard of the movie, but as a child, I have no memory of ever reading the book.

It's definitely a very creative storyline.

Noteworthy excerpt:
"...He planned to stand perfectly still and think of what it was like to be alive..."

This was noteworthy to me because his very life had been threatened. They wanted to kill him because they didn't think his life would amount to much. Anytime we come up against an enemy that wants to silence/kill us, we should be thankful for life. We out to reflect on how easily life is taken every day, but how God has given us another day. If you're reading this, then it is obvious that your family did not have to plan your funeral today. We rejoice that God saw fit to awaken us and has granted us yet another chance to be in the land of the living.

This is a great book for all kinds of readers! It helps show kids that you can do anything as long as you set your mind to it. It shows adults that your friends can take you a long way. It also shows how much a child can truly love their pet.

This is a childhood favorite of mine that I've given to my 8 year old niece, who is really enjoying it. She loves PaperBack Swap and may repost the book when she's done to get another book.

Ahhh, Charlotte's web. A classic, right? I think that there are few people who haven't heard of Charlotte's Web, but just in case you haven't, I'll post an overview:

"Wilbur was lovingly raised by a girl named Fern. But now he's a barn pig. He's bored and lonely- until he meets Charlotte, the beautiful grey spider who also lives in the barn. Charlotte thinks of a wonderful way to save Wilbur from a pig's unhappy fate. Her clever plan will devlight you, in this famous story"

It's not a classic for nothing, folks! This story left me all warm and fuzzy on the inside, and I bet it will for you too ^_^

A wonderful classic! I've read it as a child and as and adult and it's still a wonderful story at either age. My child read it at ten years old and just adored the story!

Charlotte's Web is an excellent children's book for 1st to 3rd graders. The story begins and ends on a farm, with a little girl named Fern and her animal friends. She is especially close to Wilbur, a pig. Wilbur is very close to Charlotte, the spider. There's also Templeton, the rat. Read it, and unravel the story.
