I think this book is the best "f*** you" to the dairy/meat industry around. This book doesn't just have the China Study in it - it also references 700 other studies. Studies that pretty much all point to one thing: a low fat vegan diet is the healthiest. It's hard to argue with such evidence. What I also like is that the referenced studies are easily found. I always like to check studies out for myself to see who funded them, what bias was present, etc. It was absolutely wonderful to see that most of the studies were funded by impartial third parties. On top of that, Campbell is coming from a background of believing dairy to be good for us. When he started his career, he was trying to figure out how to get more protein - into livestock, into children, etc. So, he wasn't some crazy vegan who made these studies fit his interpretation. The studies changed his viewpoint due to the overwhelming evidence. I really think this should be a mandatory read in medical school, as well as for high schoolers. It's information that everyone should have!

This book truly is a comprehensive study of nutrition. We keep extra copies and give them to people who are confused about the implication of diet and health. With all of the misinformation and dieting nonsense circulating out there, it's settling to know there is a well-researched, science-based text available. This book is a must read for anyone who cares about long-term health and quality of life. dbn

Interesting and worth reading. But I read it as a vegetarian, thinking it might convince me to give up dairy & eggs too. It didn't. It's clear that the Campbells are convinced that all meat product are bad for us, and there may be evidence they did not present. But the links between the data and their conclusions wasn't always as strong as I'd like to see it.

Valid and credible research studies inform the reader that the consumption of meat and dairy leads to weight gain and multiple disease processes, including cancer, while a diet abscent of meat and dairy can reverse the process and check weight gain at the same time.

I have had life long good nutritional habits, few physical difficulties requiring medications. The China Study validates for me the need to continue a diet primarily consisting of fruits, vegetables and grains.
