Hello everyone, I'm interested in finding romance novels that don't have explicit sex scenes in them. I've recently discovered the Love Inspired books and I know of other Christian authors such as Francine Rivers, Dee Henderson, and Karen Kingsbury. I've read a few Debbie Macomber Christmas books and they don't seem to have typical sex scenes like regular Harlequin romance novels. Does anyone know if her regular novels are similar to her Christmas ones? I know she doesn't write Christian romance so I thought it was interesting to see her books without those kinds of scenes in them. If anyone has any other suggestions for Christian romance, or just regular writers who have more "tame" romance novels, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

The Silhouette Special Edition line is more tame romances.  In fact, Debbie Macomber got her start writing for them.  The stories focus more on family and love and are not explicit in the sex scenes at all.  There's also the Silhouette Romance and Harlequin Romance lines.  Shorter books but not explicit at all.

I'm sure if you look in the book bazaar, you'll find lots of good deals on all three lines of books, people offer them up in deals to get rid of them.  I once picked up like 8 Harlequin Romance books for 1 credit.

So Harlequin Romance and Silhouette Romance are separate lines of Harlequin? I remember reading one Superromance book that didn't really have sex scenes, but it's just hard to tell which ones will have them or not. And I just recently went on book bazaar and found some really great deals on Love Inspired books. I'll check out these other series that you mentioned. Thanks for the advice!

harlequin and silhouette differ line to line as well as author to author as to the amount of sex. harlequin blaze is expected to have lots and lots of it but I read a superromance once that barely had any.in fact the main couple never did have sex I don't think.

love inspired do not have sex but vary author to author pretty much..some are hit and miss with me..I like light/fluffy/cutesy/funny mostly and am currently reading the mule hollow series by debra clopton in this line. I also liked 'after the storm' series last year. judy baer is funny and close to chick-lit, same as allie pleiter.

I've liked Linda Windsor's 'moon' trilogy. the 2nd, fiesta moon was my favorite but the first is paper  moon and the 3rd is blue moon. LIsa Wingate's hill country trilogy was very clean and not really 'religious' though some praying in it but not preachy at all just clean though I suspect one couple slept together but it just wasn't spelled out in detail..gosh can't think of the order but Over the  Moon at the Blue lizard diner is the 3rd title. I think Texas cooking is the first..people are introduced in one and show up in later books with their own story.

Curtiss Ann Matlock I've found to be clean as well.

you can also check on the christian fiction forum here and amazon.com has a christian fiction community and one there is about christian romance - a huge long thread with tons and tons of ideas though it's pretty much exclusively christian and some are pretty opinionated..I just sorta got with the flow and get ideas and discuss what I've been reading. romantictimes.com has an inspirational forum too.

I love love love Mary Connealy!  And Janette Oke is a good author for Christian romance, historical.

Yes Harlequin Romance and Silhouette Romance are two separate lines of books.  The few I've read where the H & h do have sex, it's glossed over and not explicit at all.

Most, if not all of the traditional Regencies by Signet, harlequin, fawcett crest, zebra have little to no explicit sex in them.  Unfortunately mainstream publishers stopped doing these almost a decade or more ago.  But you can certainly find them here on PBS.  I have lots on my shelf because I adore them!  Several writers of now the longer historical romances books got their start in them.  Ex:  Carla Kelly, Mary Balogh, Loretta Chase, Mary Jo Putney, Jo Beverley, Barbara Metzger and more.

I am reading A Very Unusual Governess by Sylvia Andrew.  No explicit sex, good story.

Lately there have been free christian ebooks coming out.  Some are romance.  The below is a link to a post where someone lists the ones for Kindle. You can download kindle for your pc or iphone to read them there if you dont want to buy a kindle.  They may also be availabe in other reader format, but I just follow the kindle ones since that is what I have.
