A nice little collection of short stories found in a scrapbook at the home of Lucy M. Mongomery after her death.Originally written for newspapers during the Christmas/New Years season. The theme of the stories repeat themselves and become predictable, but they are still a nice little read especially with the two or three interjecting stories taken from the "Anne" series.
Some wonderful stories by the author of Anne of Green Gables. They are delightful.
Wonderful book. Enjoyed reading all the stories.
A wonderful collection, although I would have preferred that is did not contain material in the Anne series. I already have those.
I thought these stories were endearing and lovely. The Anne that we all fell in love with in the Green Gables Novels was splendid in this book. The shortness of the stories make them perfect read alouds for your daughter.
Share Anne's delight at receiving the dress of her dreams, the joy of a young woman reunited with her long-lost brother on Christmas Eve, and the surprise of a trio of sisters who inadvertently end a family feud by arriving at the wrong uncle's house for Christmas dinner. L.M. Montgomery reveals the joys and trials of Christmas and the hope of the New Year in this moving collection, which will be treasured by her fans and by all readers who enjoy an old-fashioned Christmas.
These are beautiful old fashioned stories.
12 short Christmas stories, the first two from L.M. Montgomery's most famous series Anne Of Green Gables.
If you had only read the first book in the Green Gables series you might not want to read the second short story because it does spoil Anne's story a little. 3 of the stories were different and refreshing compared to most of the stories.
Some of the other stories which are not in the green gables series have the feeling that is heart-warming and sweet but honestly most of them were the same story over and over. A family can't afford gifts for their children and it looks that they will have nothing for christmas so someone gives them their gifts. Maybe it has to do with the time period they are written in but most of the stories got old real quick.
I love what I have read of the Anne Of Green Gables series but these short stories are not great. That said I would still try other short stories by L.M. Montgomery.
Sixteen stories taken from "Anne of Green Gables" and "Anne of Windy Poplar". These stories bring both tears and smiles and introduces us to one of literature's most favorite characters.
