I want to read The Christmas Box out loud to my class. I know its Christian literature, but I work at a Christian school so its okay.

I teach high schoolers but these are children with disabilities so their comprehension is much lower. Also, is there anything inappropriate? I plan to read it first if it seems like a good fit, but online I can only see the introduction of the book. I'm sure I could read it over this holiday if it seems like it might be somewhat appropriate.

Any other suggestions for good Christmas read alouds? I really appreciate the help.

I finally found a good summary and I don't think the kids would like it. Thanks for your help. If you have any other good read alouds for Christmas, let me know about them!

I would recommend A Stranger for Christmas. It is a great story and teaches a valuable lesson about how we can show love to others.

It is a small book and my daughters both enjoyed it greatly. It is by Carol Lynn Pearson.  Hope you find it as good as I remember it being.

Thanks, Meg!

I found it, and it says it ships in 2-4 weeks. By the time I get it, it will be Christmas vacation. I have it on my list for next year! Thanks :)  Merry Christmas.

A really fun, out loud read is The Best Christmas Pagent ever!  There is some discussion (if I remember correctly) of cussing and smoking but not in a positive manner.  I think this book would be great for any age person.  Yes, it's a Christian Christmas book

I found a class set of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.   We read it and the kids really loved it and found a lot of good lessons contained within. There was some discussion of cussing and smoking as you said, but the kids were absolutely astounded that other kids would do such a thing so they definitely understood it wasn't a good think.

Thanks for the help.

The one Cozi said is what came to my mind too..I loved that book! anyone who's been in the 'typical' Christmas pageant knows about the coveted role of Mary and who usually gets to play the part!
