My husband loves the book Lucifer's Hammer by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle. I want to get him a book for a surprise for Christmas and I know he loves this one and has re-read it many times. Any suggestions on a similar book he might enjoy? I don't just want to pick one from the same author since I have no clue on this genre. Any advice on great sci-fi books you can recommend would be greatly appreciated.

Happy Holidays to All.

I'd recommend Farnham's Freehold by Robert A. Heinlein if he hasn't already read it.

I would recommend Moonfall by Jack McDevitt.

I just read your post to my husband who also loves this novel & has been about a book a day for 30 years ...

He said by the same author he'd reccommend Hammer Fall (same type of characters - different names & situations)

He also said the Jack McDevitt book mentioned above (Moonfall) would be a good comparison

Lastly he'd reccommend The Tomb by F. Paul Wilson... although it is not the same story line at all alot of the characters are reminsent of those in Lucifer's Hammer

Hope that helps :)

Merry Christmas!

Lisa

I just ordered Moonfall since it's come with such good reccomendation. Thanks again all of you. I will be on he lookout for Hammer Fall, it doesn't seem anyone has it on this site right now. I will also keep the other books in mind for more gifts for my guy. Have a wonderful Holiday season and happy reading!
