Although I finished the book, it is not terribly well written. I'm still not sure if she meant the main point to be about her pugs (Clara is one of them) or about the ordeal she and her husband went through to adopt a foreign child. The details of the latter is funny and painful at the same time. The parts about the former interesting and occasionally caused a chuckle. It did bother me a bit that the auther didn't seem to actually loved her pugs--it was almost as if the pugs defined her and her life--more of a status symbol and/or an albatross to carry in her pet bag. Her husband seemed to be more fond of them than she. I did change my attitude toward pugs though. I had thought them unattractive and without much of a personality. I certainly don't think that way now!

Cute story of an appealing (and frustrating) pug.

This book was absolutely wonderful. I laughed, I cried, I smiled and felt joy. The love she has for her Pugs is evident, and the way Clara works a crowd is epic. The book also goes into her adoption process for her first child and I find it very interesting. One thing to note is that there aren't anymore books after this one as the Author passed away from cancer. :(

Unless you like books written by non pet lovers keep moving. This is not written well, it's boring, and Kaufman repeatedly showed why some people should NOT have animals as pets. And just for the record, I'm not one of those crazy pet owners who think there should be guidelines on all things pet related. But there should be love.
She had already set about finding replacements for her two pugs before they had even died. And...she called it that in her own words. Absolutely freaking disgusting.
