So, last Thursday or Friday I posted three wishlisted books - two got accepted right away, and I mailed those on Monday. The third turned over at least twice and then got requested today. I can't get to the PO again until after the Thanksgiving weekend. I am trying to figure out when the last date I can mail this book is, or whether I should just reject the request and relist it later (which is annoying to the wisher, I know, but what can ya do?).

How many days is the longest you can wait to mail? I looked at the Help Center but it didn't really have a straight answer. I know that I have 5 days to accept, but then I get a few more if I choose 'I can mail later', right?

You have a 2 day grace period after the date you choose to mail by. So if you chose Sunday then you actually have until Tuesday.

If you haven't already accepted the request, you can wait five days to do that. Then choose the farthest out date as when you can ship.  So ten days from when you got the order, plus a day or two grace period on top of that to mail, I think.

Laura, when you view the request it will tell you how long you have to accept the order. 4 days 17 hours 20 minutes or something like that.

You have up to seven days to mark mailed once you have accepted a request. From the help center:

Here is a list of deadlines associated with the PBS swapping process:

  • A sender has 5 days to respond to a request.
    • After accepting a request by clicking "I can mail in the next 2 days", a sender has 5 days to mark the book mailed. The deadline is at the end of the fifth day.

    • After accepting a request by clicking "I can mail later" and choosing an alternate mailing date, a sender has 2 days beyond the alternate mailing date to mark the book mailed. The deadline is at the end of the second day.

I just accepted some requests and the last day available was Sunday. If you wait to accept it for a couple of days you will be able to select a day after the weekend.

Thanks, all. Sounds like I have enough leeway to get it mailed next week, as long as I confirm that I can send it before the request times out.
