I received a book with a problem, and sure enough instead of clicking received with a problem, I clicked the other one. Sigh... Well, I still contaced the lister and told them of the problem - and after more than a week I received a "don't order from my shelf again".  And of course, no refund of credit.

I'm posting a picture of the book, in case I'm just being picky....

As you can see that horrible yellow stain goes over numerous pages starting on page 257 and going to page 390.

The book was well wrapped, even in plastic and no marks on the wrappings, so it was done before shipping.

As far as ever ordering from this member again - HA! You can make sure that won't happen again!!

If that wasn't an obvious stain, I don't know what is!

with you. I think when it comes to cleanliness, not everyone has the same standards. Or perhaps people think they should get something for nothing. Who knows? But I've had a few of those too. I once accidently clicked the "received" button for a book that I hadn't gotten. I figured it would come soon so it would be okay. Turns out the person never did send it and then wouldn't respond when I would inquire about the book. It's unfortunate that people are that way. I do agree with the other poster about reporting her. It should at least be on file. In my early days on PBS, I made the mistake of accepting some pretty bad books thinking there was nothing I could do about it, and regret it now. (Back then we didn't have the "report a problem" button of a comments field, so there wasn't much to be done anyway.) But I've had books that were completely warped from water damage or had underlining and highlighting on every page. Most of them I just gave away to the Goodwill because I didn't want them in that condition and could not, in good conscience, swap them again. Ah, such is life...

I did that once.  Book was nearly torn in two and I accidentally marked Received instead of "with a problem".  I still PMd the sender and let them know the book was not in postable condition.  They thought it was fine because that's how they got the book.

I wouldn't go so far as to post the link to this discussion.  Even though no names were used, it's likely to upset someone even more to know they are being discussed and will decrease the chance of getting the credit back. The embarassment factor could make them dig their heals in more.  The posting guidelines should be enough and if they aren't nothing is likely to change the person's mind.

I received a book from here one time that looked like it had had a cup of coffee poured over it.  I clicked the wrong button too, well actually I thought I clicked the right button, but it never gave me any options to say what the problem was.  I didn't send a PM to the sender, but now in hindsight I wish I had.  I threw the book away.  It was just gross.

Thank you all for your feedback. I have contacted PBS to alert them about this member. I so hate to grumble about this stuff, as I know it costs to send the book.

When I posted this, I wanted to see if I was making a big hissy out of nothing. However, I got a huge surprise.....  I must tell you of a most amazing member here. She read my posting and gifted me a credit because of the awful book. Can you believe it?!! It gave me some serious snuffles that someone cared enough about me - and she doesn't even know me! I don't think we've had any transactions so she's only seen me here. This woman left me speechless with her generosity.

You know who you are - again, thank you!

I had a book come with pages falling out, so obviously I can't repost.  I clicked the wrong button as well, thinking the book was fine, because I didn't see the falling pages until I opened the book.

Noob mistake I won't make again.  The sender has ignored my PMs and obviously has no intention of returning my credit.  PBS's position is, it's too late once you hit the button.

sigh
