This is another great "who-dunnit" from Shirley Tallman, author of the Sarah Woolson Historical Mystery Series. This is the 3rd book in the series, and I think, the best. The first two books are Murder on Nob Hill and The Russian Hill Murders. The books take place in San Francisco in the 1880's. Ms. Tallman has done her research well and all the historical facts are accurate. That's what makes reading these books such a treat, especially if one enjoys history, as I do.

The third book delves into the series' main characters a bit more and fleshes them out, which I enjoy. All the books take place in a certain part of SF and this one, obviously, begins at the infamous Cliff House, built on the rocks of the Pacific Coast.

The action starts in the first chapter and keeps going, as well as the body count, throughout the book. It was hard to put down and I ended up reading this in 3 days. Maybe not a good idea to be reading into the wee hours of the night by yourself!!

I can usually figure out who-dunnit before the ends of the mysteries I read, but I didn't have a clue on this one. That, to me, is the sign of a first rate mystery novel. Two thumbs up to Ms. Tallman on Sarah's latest escapades!
