It's been many years since I've read this book, so I don't remember details. But it is the prequel/sequel of sorts to A Yellow Raft in Blue Water, and I liked it a lot.
I enjoyed this book. It was slow to get started, but after the first couple chapters, it got more engaging. Tells the story of several generations of interesting characters.
If you liked A Yellow Raft in Blue Water you will like this book which takes a look at the family in more depth. A great story about love
Nice epic tale. Worth quoting: "...you lived the first half of your life for your parents and the second half of your life for your child and if you could manage to squeeze a vacation or two in the middle for yourself you should count yourself fortunate."
I found this book to be fairly good reading until I neared the end. I get the impression that the author knew he needed to end the book, so he contrived a scene that was so unfitting, and so unrealistic that it destroyed the book. If you read this book, do yourself a favor and quit before you get to KFC. Had the book ended before this scence, I may have given it 4 stars.
Should be read in conjunction with his "Yellow Raft in Blue Water
