Today I received a book that had coffee stains on the front cover. Fortunately it is a glossy enough paper that I was able to wipe the stains off, as I was doing so I thought about taking a photo and forwarding it to the sender saying gee thanks.

I wish I would have taken a pic because as I went to wipe the back cover I noticed that back there a bit had leaked onto the inside back cover and last page.     A lesson learned though about checking over the books really good when they come in.   I thought I had but almost missed the stain in the back, so I could see how she might but the coffee all over the front... don't know how that was missed.

This makes it now unpostable back in to the PBS system correct?  Should I pm her or RWAP the book first?

No stains allowed.  If it's otherwise in good condition, you can put it up for a credit in the Book Bazaar.  Be sure that the requester knows about all the defects.

Sorry to hear that you received a stained book, Jennie! I've gotten my share of them. :-/ Yes, you should definitely report it as RWAP, and then send her a PM about it. Because the stain leaked inside the book, it's not allowed to be posted back in the system.

Jeannie--

You should mark it RWP and you'll be able to PM her during that process.  That way your PM(s) will be attached to the problem transaction, in the event PBS needs it at a later date.

You need to always mark RWP books as such in order for the system to work properly. Asking for your credit back is optional and your decision, but we're all counting on you to mark problem transactions as such, so that the problems don't continue for other members.

Cheers,
Catt

I just met the nicest PBS'r ever.  The sender was so gracious and nice to deal with and has returned my credit. I've marked the problem resolved and sent her a pm letting her know how much I appreciate dealing with a kind, honest person.  Thanks for the advice.

It's always good to hear about great outcomes and great PBS members in this forum!  I'm happy it worked out well.

I've had several RWAP transactions here (mostly water damage!) and almost everyone has been completely gracious. There really are some good members here.
