Do you ever post college textbooks on PBS...I know they are expensive and heavy so I'm guessing many people don't...on that note, any suggestions as to where to purchase college textbooks for good prices?

I've posted one book because a new edition came out so it was selling for hardly anything on Amazon. I get all my textbooks on Amazon and then sell them on there at the end of the semester and usually get quite a bit for them.

I don't think you're going to find current edition textbooks on PBS because they are expensive to ship and you can get more money elsewhere.  I have seen some older edition books posted, but those are not what you need.

I found this website, www.bigwords.com, that allows you to compare prices across different online stores (Amazon, Alibris, BN Marketplace, ect.).  That way, it tells you where you can find the book you want for the best price.  I wish I had known about that website when I was in college.

Look around on eBay. I just won an auction for a statistics textbook at a fantastic price. Craigslist might be worth a look, too.

Also, send an email to each professor to see if the newest edition really is necessary. Sometimes an older edition is adequate, and other times you'll find that the professor has put the book on reserve in the library.

Go ahead and wishlist the books you need for fall. If you are lucky enough to get a wishlisted textbook on PBS, ordering at least one more book from the member will help with postage. Otherwise you might find that the request expires.

I've posted one textbook on here, but it was small-ish and thin. Other than that, I've seen very few new textbooks on the site.

I was going to say that my husband has had good luck getting his college texts on Amazon, but then I realized most of them have been literature, not textbooks.

I've posted a few textbooks here, but only if they are wishlisted.

I am a college prof in NYC. Some sites like thriftbooks.com & half.com have textbooks for cheap.  Also The Strand, a huge bookstore downtown.  has a large selection online as well. Where do you live?  I am hooked up with NY events which sponsor book fairs and I could send more info.  Dano
