WOW! If you've not read t his book, I highly recommend that you do. I could not put the book down. It's a generational story that I believe starts in the 1920's and revolves around a family going to a  summer colony in Maine. The story keeps you on the edge of your seat. There are so many lives entwined with each other...The ending is spectacular.

I love Siddons' writing. Is this a new book?  It sounds like an older novel of hers.

Carol, it's been around a while.  But Siddons is one of my favorite Southern authors.

I read this book many years ago and remember enjoying it but I can't for the life of me remember any details. Perhaps I have to revisit it! :)

SIddon's is a wonderful author.  I have read a number of her books which I have enjoyed very much- but "Colony" was not one of them.  It hink it is set in Maine?  She has antoher book coming out this August entitled "Off Season" that is also set in Maine.

I just finished reading Colony (2nd time).  I enjoyed it.

Mine was c. 1992 or 3.  Thought it was older.

Thanks for the recommendation.  I just ordered it.  There are plenty of copies available in PBS if anyone else is interested.

I just ordered several of her other books, too. Anne has a way of making you feel like you are part of the story.

Anne Rivers Siddons is one of my favorite authors!  I like all her books, but do have some favorites that stood out more for me:

King's Oak

Downtown-this is my no. 1 fave-Atlanta, Georgia, 1960s, small town Catholic girl goes to work on a popular magazine in Atlanta, on her own for the first time, racial issues, etc.  VERY good.

Hill Towns

Outer Banks-my no. 2 fave-college girls in the 1950s, stuff happens, they reunite years later, more stuff happens!  :o)

These are all some of her older works.
