Great horror anthology with stories from lots of popular horror authors. Stephen King "The Reach", M.R. James "The Ash Tree", H.P. Lovecraft "The Call of Cthulhu", Shirley Jackson "The Summer People", and many more.

This book is not to be missed, horror/dark fantasy fans. Editor Hartwell has compiled a superb collection that approaches superlative.

These offerings in form and execution transcend their limited genre; most are simply excellent short fiction sure to delight in special ways.

Especially great writing are King's "The Reach" ( yes, that Stephen King ); "Evening Primrose"; "The Ash Tree"; "There's a Long, Long Trail A-Winding";"The Summer People"; "The Whimper of Whipped Dogs"; "Mr. Justice Harbottle"; "The Autopsy" ( worth reading this book for this alone ); "Sticks"; "Larger Than Oneself".

Those not mentioned all have their own strengths and are good reads.

This collection contains many stories that leave questions to be considered upon completion. Fascinating.
