This was one of those books that you just sailed through easily. I enjoyed this story very much. It had a lot of substance to it, plenty of twists and turns. Just the right amount of mystery and romance to keep you page turning. I just had to know where it was taking me.

I read this book very quickly. I pride myself on (and sometimes kick myself for) figuring out where the book is going, what is going to happen and who did what! I thought I had this one figured out too but Karen White threw in a curve ball! I thought this book had just the right amount of mystery, suspense, heartbreak and romance. Mixed all together it created a wonderful recipe that makes me want to read more Karen White books! Jillian, called "Jilly Bean" by her adorable daughter, Grace, is pregnant with her second child and in the midst of divorcing the father. She up and moves back to Pawley's Island, where she spent summers with her grandmother and her best friends Lauren and Linc. When they were teenagers, Lauren and Linc were a couple; however, Lauren goes missing and Linc is suspected of foul play. As Jillian deals with the ghosts from her childhood, her daughter, Grace, starts speaking to her own ghost, aptly named, Lauren. Thus begins a quest for the truth of what happened to Lauren. Fast paced and believable - I loved this story and did not want it to end!

The secrets of childhood are rediscovered in adulthood as 2 of the 3 childhood friends return to Pawley's Island, SC to begin new lives. Combination of mystery, romance , and other-world communication. I really enjoyed this one.

White often explores psychic or supernatural abilities/events in her books. That is the case with this one, too. She does a nice job of developing the characters, building suspense, and providing foreshadowing and clues along the way. If you pay attention, you'll solve the mystery before the end of the book. However, that doesn't make the journey any less satisfying.

This was a decent book although you pretty much see whats coming through the whole story. Pretty predictable but still a good beach or lazy afternoon reader.

Book was one I couldn't put down. Tells the story of 3 child hood friends, one of them went missing. I didn't have a clue as to who done it until the very end. Great read.

Well written mystery, romance, suspense. An easy read but it holds your interest and I will probably read more of her books, as I liked her style of writing.

A bit mysterious, a bit supernatural, definitely a romance and a study of relationships...friends, mother/daughter, etc. It was a fun read...as are most of Karen White's books.

I enjoyed reading "The Color of Light" up until near the end. I was happily reading even tho some plot items were predictable and always used. ie: The guy and gal have an unhappy past and they try to distance themselves from one another only to not be able to resist each other, LOL... And we the readers can guess what will be found in the mysterious hole---long before the characters figure it out.
***Spoiler Allert***
But right at the end the writer lost me when even when the skeletonized remains are found and mearly feet away ,within a few hours. The cops leave the scene, they suspect it was the corpse of their long lost best friend, And they have to get down and dirty-grinding sand into each others body parts. Who thinks about having sex on the beach just after a dead friend is found? The book ends predictably and I just skimmed the last few pages; by then I knew how it would be wrapped up.Up until that moment in the book- the big build up to the discovery of the body I was happily along for the ride.

Loved this book! I like almost anything by Karen White, think she's a great women's writer. This book has it all - summer on the beach, mystery, hidden places in beach houses, and romance. I totally recommend this book!

I enjoyed this read. I enjoyed Jillian's journey of being a scared newly divorced mother to a woman of confidence. The description in the book is very good - I can imagine myself at Jillian's house and out on the beach. There is a lot of symbolism and foreshadowing in the book but a good twist at the end that I wasn't expecting.
It's a quick read - you'll enjoy it!

A story with many twist and turns. This was the first time I had read Karen White. I am sure I will read her again. Remember you only think you know... but you really don't.
