The Common Table is blunt at times, but many readers will enjoy its direct approach and down-to-earth humor. Cowan reflects on his work in organization development and on his experiences at home and in the workplace. Readers will, no doubt, recognize themselves in many of his anecdotes. The book is easy to pick up for a few minutes at a time; no story is longer than a few pages, and nearly all of them will garner a chuckle or two and elicit the realization of a good lesson to be learned. Recommended for anyone interested in finding a higher power outside a church setting. Mary Deeley
