Lot of history here on the treatment of animals since ancient times - a very interesting read. The part religion has played regarding treatment of animals is eye opening. I had to 'skim' over a few gruesome paragraphs about some incredible (human) cruelty - but then what else is new? The book is well written, thoughtful and certainly well worth reading.
