There's a web site that compares eReaders, if you're looking to get a new one.

ReaderRocket

The do have the Fire and the Nook tablet to compare, but they don't bring in other tables. Mostly eInk by the looks of it.

I wonder where they get some of their data. I saw that they had specs for the RAM on the Kobo Aura. No where can I find that, on the product listing page or anywhere else. I'd like to know how they came up with that info.

There's RAM listed here, if it's the same machine.

The specs of Kobo Aura HD comprise of a 6.8-ich screen with a display of 1440×1080 pixels, which amounts to 265dpi. The premium reader also houses 1GB RAM along with 4GB storage, in addition to a memory expansion slot up to 32GB. Kobo claims that the e-reader is the fastest in the market, courtesy of its 1GHz processor.

Oh thanks, I hadn't seen that site. All I've seen elsewhere is the 1Ghz processor, which is great, but not the same thing as RAM, as far as I know.

Although my point about blacker text may be irrelevant, as with Kobo, you can darken it up with the slide of a finger.

There's a new, but already pretty long, thread at Mobileread about it Here.

Lots of talk and on-going questions about it. With varioius links to comparison sites and videos about it.

Many have pre-ordered and will post their observations as they get them. Looks like shipping has started. I'm going to be keeping up with the thread to see what they all think. May have results pretty quick. You could ask questions there if there's anything particular you need to know.

I don't like the Home Page very much, and want to see if it can do Collections as opposed to Shelves. I'd love the internal 4gig, but won't do me much good if the orgainzation of side-loaded ePubs is clumbsy, like I feel it was on the Touch. Sounds like a killer screen, though.

I do kind of like the new Kobo home screen, but that reminds me, that is another example where the blacks seemed a lot blacker on the paperwhite, and I don't think the font weight slider would affect that!

I think someone actually mentions that in the other thread.

I do need a nice, solid black in a font.

Me, too. I have put a nice font on my paperwhite and my kindle touch, it is perfect for me. Actually seems a little blacker on the kindle touch.

Actually various studies have shown that blacker black on a white background is harder on the eyes then a brown/grey black and a cream background (like the kindle touch). So that I think is why they tend to not do the black on white thing.

I'd rather a blacker black on a cream background than a transparent font on anything.

It always take a while to get the contrasts the way that's comfortable for me.

I just like that we can change it to suit :)    My one wish is that the kindle touch could do cream letters on a black or dark grey background. I know the kindle app can do it on my phone but my kindle can't  (not that I've seen anways).

Plain Vanilla Kindle with a lighted cover works just fine for me.
