OK so one of my wishlisted books came up on December 12, they accepted and I was sure they had sent it out in the time they were supposed to, I thought it was just delayed because of the holidays. I got a message from them on Friday saying they had just sent it the day before. My question is what if it is not here by the time it says it is supposed to be here according to the system? I don't want to mark it recieved if I haven't gotten it. Also what are you supposed to do when they said they have sent it and don't actually send it out until over 2 weeks later?

Thank you!

First question -  Did they mark the book "mailed".  If the book was marked mailed in time in the system this is what you need to do.  Sit back.  Wait for book to come.  Fill out the form at the end, MAKING sure you note the date they told you it was mailed.

If this person did not mark the book as mailed, you need to be careful when you receive the book.  Make 100% sure that the return address or request id matchs.  Occasionally, you will get a surprise book that causes problems.  Like when the first request is not marked as mailed and mailed any way.  And you end up with two copies of the book and have no idea where one of them came from because you threw the wrapper away without thinking this would be a problem.

In either case, if the book is not received before the lost date, it will simply go lost.  The book will automagically go back on your wishlist with you as #1.  (Leave yourself there until the book is actually in your hands).  When you receive the book, go to your transaction archive and mark the book as mailed.  Rumor (I don't know for sure, as I have not had this happen to me) has it that you can then fill out the survey.  Make sure to note the day the book was mailed.

Whatever you do, do not mark a book as received if you do not have the book in hand.  People can wait for their credits.

as Kerry said, wait until you receive the book before marking it received and then fill out the survey and mark the date that it was sent/postmarked and you can always add an additional note to R&R at the bottom of the survey that they marked it mailed but didn't mail it for 2 weeks.  This is against PBS rules and unless they have extenuating circumstances not nice.  But make sure that it is the original one accepted on 12/12 and not someone else that it might have rolled over to if they didn't mark it mailed.

I've found the few times someone's taken the trouble to let me know they had to send out a book later for whatever reason, and got them no problem soon after.  It's good to know it was sent out later so you don't debate about taking the next offer for the same book when the system marks it lost, wondering if it went missing in the postal system, and ending up with two copies when both show.

Read the help docs on what to do when a book goes "lost". If they mailed it first class you might get it before the system marks it lost.
