This is a very good adaptation of the movie. It includes all of the extra scenes and alternate ending of the DVD but worked into the story. You also get a little bit more background into what's going on in the story. If you enjoyed the movie, you'll enjoy this book.

Novelization of the movie- I liked the book enough to rent the movie, which I now own.

Adds some background information to the movie, motivation, thoughts, etc. Not as much as I had hoped, though. Tone and characterization very similar to the movie. If you haven't seen the movie, this is still a good book to read, and in fact, you may enjoy it even more as a novel.

I like the book much better than the movie. Suspense, religion, evil spirits but the good wins out.
Recommed it.

Let me start by saying that this isn't your typical movie-to-book adaptation. Where, in my experience, such tend to be slaves to the movie they sprang from generally offering up a flat effect this one uses that original story as an outline and goes on to flesh it out admirably with a depth we're just not used to. Oh yes, the basics are all here but now we're given a context and background that may have been slightly lacking in the movie and I know that I'll enjoy (and better understand some parts) the movie much more the next time I see it.
