I have 4 Cook's Country Magazines that I am willing to swap. The issues are February/March 2011, June/July 2011, August/Sept 2011 and December/January 2012.  I am new to this community forum, but was told by PBS that I could list them here.

I'm not sure who told you this, but magazines are not allowed to be swapped.  If this is a new change in the rules and guidelines, this is awesome news!  I have a lot of cooking magazines .. unfortunately, they can't be mailed media mail due to advertising ..

Janet, they CAN be swapped here in the Bazaar only.  I've swapped magazines, leaflets, crossword puzzle booklets, etc., here.

From the rules copied from this forum:

8) Swapping of "unpostables" in this forum

  • It is OK to offer unpostable media (such as magazines) for credits in "unofficial" swaps in this forum, or as freebies/incentives to order from a Bookshelf .
  • Remember that non-Media-Mail-eligible items CANNOT be sent using Media Mail postal rate. For example, DVDs and VHS tapes and magazines and pamphlets/booklets without ISBNs are all NOT permitted to be posted at PBS; they can all be offered as freebies/incentives, or for credit in "unofficial" swaps in this forum. Any items that contain advertising (ie, magazines or booklets bought at a supermarket checkout stand), or are not Media items (anything but books, CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes) can't be sent Media Mail, so the whole package will have to go First Class or Priority Mail. DVDs/VHS tapes/CDs may be sent using Media Mail postal rate. Non-media items can't be swapped on the site - the Book Bazaar is not a Flea Market!

I agree. Magazine's aren't allowed to be swapped.

Magazines CAN be traded in the Bazaar for credit(not officially swapped) as catsandroses has posted the official rule (that was clarified quite a long time ago). Theresa received correct information.

These must be unofficial swaps. They cannot be posted into the system once a deal is in place, the credits need to be transferred using the Give Credits button and the sender and receiver need to be responsible for holding up their own end of the deal.

The sender cannot use Media Mail to send the books magazines. One should keep that in mind when offering them.

"The sender cannot use Media Mail to send the books. One should keep that in mind when offering them."yes

I always weigh my non-postable media items before listing in the bazaar; always make sure they weigh 12 oz. or less, so I can send them by First Class mail.  Though one time I sent a large lot of crossword puzzle books by Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope, which was just under $6, but received 4 credits for the swap, so that made it worthwhile.
