How can I tell how many copies of a certain book are in the system?  For instance, I requested a book and the person was never responding and I wanted to cancel the order and re-order but I wasn't sure if there were other copies of the book out there.

If you add the book to your reminder list, you can look at your reminder list and hover over the grey circle to see how many copies are in the system.

and don't cancel to reorder because it will just go back to the same person.  let it time out and if there are more copies it will roll to the next person.

it works on a FIFO system so cancelling won't help. I  know waiting up to 5 days is a pain but that's the way it is.

What I do, and I don't know if this is a no-no or not...but before I cancel, I order another copy of the book, then I cancel the original request.

Lori's way works, just make sure you cancel the right one!

but give the original request time...sometimes someone can't mail right away so they use the 5 days to accept and then pick the furthest mail out date.  not sure if this is the case...but there should be a PM button and you can PM the sender and see what the scoop is, maybe they don't know they have a book being requested or maybe they only get to this site every other day or so.  There are multiple possibilites....so just be patient!
