Jayne Ann Krenz (aka Amanda Quick) does a good job of developing the platonic friendship of a man and woman into love. The man has a mysterious job and disappears for long periods of time---the woman writes science fiction novels. A trip to a South Pacific island and some harrowing escapades seal the deal. JAK did a nice job on this book.

Amy Slater and Jed Glaze are maintaining a careful friendship, until Jed arrives home from his latest assignment and needs Amy's help. When Amy realizes how badly Jed has been hurt, she begins to acknowledge the attraction she has felt for him during the last three months. Jed wants more than friendship from Amy, but hasn't quite determined how to maintain a carefree existence at the same time. This is a good read from one of my favorite authors.
