Light reading. I am not sure I completely liked it, maybe it was that there were too many embarrassing situations the herioine got herself into, maybe too many references by the heroine about her weight (it got annoying). But it was humorous and overall I would recommend it to someone looking for a fun read. Sometimes I couldn't believe the things that came out of the heroine's mouth.

I was really looking forward to reading this book. Cute sounding twist on the norm. I tried, I really tried to like this book. I just could not seem to be able to like the main characters enough to care overly much.

This is the second book by Macalister I have read. There were parts that I laughed and then got the down right giggles. I do not normaly laugh at romance novels but this was funny. Parts of the book are a bit choppy and the story line sometimes gets lost in the relationship of the characters but still well worth the read. Murphy's law rules in the Corset Diaries.
Intriguing premise but falls flat and becomes a typical/traditional romance. Some of the 'modern' versus Victorian clashes were amusing, but in the end it's what I call a dispoable book -- one I don't regret reading, but feel no need to read again.

Loved this book! I can relate to an overweight, insecure-about-her-body heroine, & I chuckled through the whole book!

very cute & sassy. It was fun to have a heroine that was a not so perfect size with a more than perfect heart. The only thing I wish was thatshe hadn't wined so much about her not so perfect figure, but then again, thats what most of us normal chicks do no matter what our size.

"A Month in the Life of a Victorian Duke" is about real people--like me-- pretending to live on an English estate, circa 1879. Sounds fun, no? Well, it wasn't all it was cracked up to be. We're talking no televisions, no cell phones, no PMS medications. And did I mention the corsets? No breathing for a full month. Luckily, when I met the real-life duke who was to be my pretend husband, he took my breath away....
In a manor in which everyone must strictly follow the Victorian lifestyle, things were bound to go wrong. Like when some harmless lust trned into that other thing....

I laughed and laughed and laughed. It is silly and fun and quite crazy.

Katie MacAlister is stretching it here, to me. The heroine is a larger woman forced to wear a corset for a while. I don't think the torture of the situation is fully explained. The love story here seems a little fast and forced to me as well. Not her best effort, and not as good as her vampire series.

I did find it annoying after a while the constant banter between the 2 main characters (esp during the sex parts) I found myself saying aloud "shut up already". didn't really explore any of the characters enuf so ended with not knowing (or caring about them)them really. guess it was too much going on with too many people. overall a nice quick/fluffy read for a saturday afternoon when you don't want to think too much.

Absolutely, could not put this book down! It was a great twist of real-life vs. the simulated world and I never got lost. This book was a show stopper!

If you haven't read a Katie MacAlister book you are in for a treat.
She mixes humor and romance in a Janet Evanovich way. Actually made me laugh out loud!

This was a cute book, with some steamy love scenes, and some witty dialogue. Nothing overly interesting but a good book. Reccomended for those that like Katie Macalister's other novels, a quick read.

A fun, light read about a volumptuous Yank thrust into a month of wearing a corset while re-enacting a Victorian Manor House. Think PBS special rated a heavy "R" plus pratfalls & some witty dialogue. Fluffy, but engaging enough for me to consider reading more of MacAlister's work.

Fluff, but funny. I like the author's "dragon" stories better than this - the ending seemed rushed and somehow unsatisfying, but it was still a fun, funny read.

Really funny. Enjoyed the first 100 or so pages were it stays really clean and just funny then gets more into the sexual-nothing too bad but still thought it could have done without so much however still recommended as a fun light read!!

A Victorian re-enactment in Cheshire, England with the Duke of Bridgewater and his unconventional, American duchess. Funny, lively, and endearing.
I am not a big romance novel reader, but I have to say I really enjoyed this book. At times, parts of it were laugh out loud funny!! I will definitely be reading more of Katie Mac Allister's books!! This would make a great vacation read. Perfect for a plane trip!

The main character was SOOOOOO anoying, but overall it was a cute book.
A 39 year old widow is chosen for a reality TV show where she will live as a duchess in 1800 england for 1 month. This is Chick-lit with a Harlequin romance twist to it.

Cute, but a typical "chick lit" novel. Lots of repetition, not much plot.

I wasn't crazy about this book. In fact I didn't even finish it. I think it was just too much fluff for me.

I laughed my way through this entire book! Good not-so-clean fun! A terrific read all the way through! I have loved everything I have read by Katie MacAlister and will be searching out more!

Warning!! Don't not drink milk when reading this book!, ss it will more than likely come out your nose. I laughed so hard at parts of this book that I had to stop reading.

No woman in her right mind would consent to wearing a corset for a month. Especially a "skinny-challenged" woman like Tessa. But dreams of being debt-free dance in her head at the offer of appearing in a reality TV show. "A Month in the Life of a Victorian Duke" is about real people pretending to live on an English estate, circa 1879. And Tessa's leading man-a real-life Duke-is so handsome she can barely breathe, with or without the corset...

One of my favorite authors. Haven't read a book of hers that I haven't loved.
very funny. Reality show with the characters trying to live as people did in the Victorian era. Very well written as far as believable, etc. Liked the main character a lot!
Excellent book, it's lol funny.
Good light reading, especially for us larger lovely ladies.
I think this is Katie MacAlisters funniest book she has written. I would recommend this book highly because it is not only funny it is a great story!

I LOVE ANYTHING WRITTEN BY THIS AUTHOR AND THIS BOOK WAS NO EXCEPTION.
One of the best books ever! I have read it three times and refuse to get rid of it. It is awesome!
This is one of Katie Mac Alister's earlier books (a stand alone). I thought the premise was very funny, especially if you like 'reality' TV. I think that Katie became more confident in her writing as the years have gone by, but if you want to see where she started definitely check this book out.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book! Laughed so hard I nearly peed my pants! I have found it's VERY hard to read with tears clouding my vision. Katie MacAlister has a unique writing skill of her own. She is down to earth and her dialogue is true to life. I wish her heroines were my neighbors!!
An enjoyable book. Told through journal entries, but no annoyingly so. The character babbles. I didn't find it annoying but some might. I suspect this is a book one will either enjoy or not finish at all. I enjoyed it.
This was the first book I read by MacAlister and it hooked me onto her books. Its funny throughout the book and keeps you on your toes. Its not your average romance novel. But its more fun and enjoyable. Great book to read even if you don't like romances.
It was a slow start with the main character complaining alot about how she was not suited for the show because of being over weight. Once she got on the set for the show she agreed to be on things finally got interesting. The hunky male has no problems helping her get over her self esteem issues, and she helps him get over his past. Great read!
Called at the last minute to act as the Duchess in an English reality documentary Tessa starts her adventure. After a long flight, exhaustion, and sickness she arrives at her temporary home. This is when she discovers that she will be wearing a corset daily for the next month! Acting the part of the upper class might not be as easy as she first though.
Then there's Max, the Duke. Yummy.
This is a fun tale of romance, comedy with some history thrown in for good measure.
This is written in diary form which give the feeling of being a fly on the wall. I recommend this one!

Really good story kind of a spoof on reality TV.
Very funny... I thoroughly enjoyed this... a great read!!
This was a pretty good book. I have to say that I have never heard anyone say Gark, Eep, Gah, Gak and other odd things that got on my nerves after awhile. The story and other characters were interesting.
I HAVE TO WEAR WHAT??? No woman in her right mind would consent to wearing a corset for a month.
He was so handsome she could barely breathe. Or maybe it was just the corset..........

I thought this story was quite cute and could easily happen in real life. It was a light-hearted, warm modern day romance.
Fun, amusing, and romantic with a cast of likeable characters! The heroine is a not-so-skinny young widow who accepts the challenge to participate in a reality show-- A Month in the Life of a Victorian Duke--where she plays the duke's wife. Problem is, she's starting to fall for the duke for real....
Good modern romance with a twist - the characters are the cast of a reality series about living during Victorian times. Very funny heroine and really sexy scenes. It's a bit predictable as most romances are but it's fun.
OMG. Laugh out loud funny. Tessa has depth and feeling with a quick wit and great sense of humor. Thanx to Kate for creating such a real heroine. And then there is Max. MMMMM.
This book was hilarious. It had me laughing out loud. Also a very good romance. Would definitely recommend this book.
This was a really funny book. I laughed so hard I cried in parts. I do agree with one of the other reviewers that her repeated descriptions of her overweight self was a bit annoying after awhile but if you can look past that, it was a good book.
Very funny; I loved it
Not only is this a sizzling Victorian romance, it's laugh out loud funny, a peek at the other side of Upstairs, Downstairs.
This one if laugh-out-loud funny. I really enjoyed it.
I've read this authors historical books mostly. This is the first of her comtempory ones and I can guarantee it won't be the last. I've never laughed out loud so much!!
Terrific book! I can't wait to read more of Katie Macalister's work! :)
Cute, fluffy, funny. Not a heavy read.
i don't usually post reviews, but this book is FUNNY!!!!.i laughed so hard.its nice to see a main character who isn't a size 2 and prim and proper.lol
American widow signs up for reality series based on Victorian England manor living and falls for her "co-star"
hilarious
A great book. Never will look at corsets quite the same again. Tessa and Max are really making the sparks fly in this book!
This book, and most Katie Macalister books, are very funny. I love a good romance!
This was a greatbook! I loved reading about a heroine who is "real" and keeps having things go wrong instead of a perfect storyline and still gets a happy ending!
A fun, quirky book.
I like Katies books. They are my fluff reading.
A cute, funny book!
WHEN I RE-ORDERED THIS ONE, I HAD ALREADY READ IT. BUT IT BELONGED TO MY DAUGHTER. SO I JUST HAD TO HAVE A COPY FOR MYSELF TO RE-READ. WHICH I HAVE READ IT TWICE SINCE IT CAME IN. I DO NOT THINK THAT ANY ONE WILL EVER THINK ABOUT CORSETS THE SAME WAY EVER AGAIN.
This was the first Katie Mac I ever read, and is still one of my favorites. The plus-size heroine, hunky hero (with surly adolescent daughter) & supporting characters are all hilarious! I hated it when the book was over - if you get this one, be sure & read it somewhere that you won't be embarrassed to be caught howling out loud. I got lucky & read it at home, where the only person to see me snorting & wiping tears from my eyes was my son... :-)
a nice quick read for summer!
Tessa was going to be on a reality show show about how people lived in 1879 on an English estate. She's skinny challenged. She meets the guy Max that is going to play her pretend duke husband. I thought it was laugh out loud funny. I highly recomend it.
Funny funny book, very enjoyable!
This is a very fun read. Absolutely hilarious!!!
Funny, sexy, quick read! Main character is a size 18 woman with a great sense of humor & adventure.
Great book. Macalister makes you laugh throughout the whole book! Worth the read.

20th Century (Modern times) romance novel--Reality TV meets English Royalty.
A cute, comical modern romance novel.
I really enjoyed this book. Light reading and often hilarious!
Pretty good & funny! Max is one sexy guy!
Excellent read. Sweet, but not saccharine. The characters are very real and easy to relate to, not to mention the chemistry Katie Macalister creates between them. Great for a light, entertaining read.

This book was a hoot. If it was in movie form it would be a very erotic PBS Victorian era documentary.
Excellent! Fast read, very humourous and entertaining.
Very funny read.
This book is quite unique in that modern people are trying to act like they are in the medival ages wearing the clothing and acting out parts....very badly I must say which makes this a funny book..
I loved this book.. I think it would be an awesome idea for a reality show!
Pure fluff, but it did make me laugh out loud a couple of times.
Excellent read, really funny. Characters you can definetly relate to.

was cute..moved super fast but would be a good beach or plane read
It was ok. I like it, but I hard time finishing it. It was VERY easy for me to put down. Had some laugh out loud lines though!
Very Funny, didn't want to put it down!
I really liked this one a lot. It was wild and crazy. My only complaint is that I'd like to hear more. Did the show go over well when it was aired? What happened to the other people on the show?
I lol at this book.
