I have submitted a few hundred book cover photos over the past few months, and apart from the occasional Oooops, I've had most of them accepted. With school ending, I've had more time this past week and have taken about 200 more. Although it takes time to find the book, take the photo, crop the photo, and post the photo, it's definitely worth it to me to see my shelves filled with the covers, and to know it helps others posting the same books or wanting the same books.

BUT . . . within the past few days, one "batch" of books I sent in are showing up with only the smallest size, and when I go through advance edit to correct it, it shows "Yes" next to the other 2 sizes. As far as I know, I am submitting the same sized photo as in all my other submissions.

Can I correct this, and how?

Blessings,

Liz (a.k.a. AlamoLiz)

Liz,

Hope someone can help you with your question, not my specialty.

What I would like to know is if there is a way to (without taking a photo, I'm lazy I guess) get the photo transferred within PBS.  Sometimes I post and my ISBN doesnt reflect a photo but PBS already has the picture I need in the system under another ISBN. Why couldn't we get it transferred somehow? Same for finding the pics on Amazon. Is there a way to move it from amazon to here?

I am like you, I love seeing the pictures with the books especially since I mainly do kids books. Jeannie

In Amazon, or anywhere else, put cursor on desired picture. Right click on picture. Move down to SAVE IMAGE AS. Save in in a file you can locate. I started a new file, under PICTURES, just for this purpose. When ready to upload a picture (under MEMBER'S TOOLS) use BROWSE to find the picture and then UPLOAD IMAGES.  You might have to use an editing program, I use Photo Plus. I just tried it to make sure it worked, and it did, but it came with the accompanying tag: GET 30% OFF. So you must crop and perhaps resize.

You can use Paint to edit/crop the pictures. Pretty much all PCs will have Paint.

I scan books myself instead of getting images from Amazon. If you have a scanner, that's probably the way that makes the highest quality images. Otherwise, you can get them from Amazon. One caveat, though, is that the images from Amazon are small, if you click on them, sometimes you can see a larger size, and then you can right-click/save that one to your local PC.

I've been having the same problem as the OP - and these are with large images I've scanned in myself.  I've never had this problem before either.  It's very mysterious.

Yes, scanning is better but I assumed that she didn't have a scanner or would not have asked the question. On the original question about size of pictures, I know this sounds backwards but adjust your pictures to a size somewhere near 640x480. I don't know why but sometimes when I leave the picture big it seems to cause problems. I always reduce to about 640x480 and have no problem yet. ( Knock on wood.)

Scanning - oh I will have to try that, it sounds simple.

What about a simple way to transfer pics when PBS has the pic already on another version of the book but not on the one you are posting. Is there a way to move it to your new posting?

There's no way to move, but you can click on the Larger Image button, right-click to save it then upload the image on the covers upload page.
