I have never had to return/exchange anything from Amazon before.  The bottom hook of the cover won't stay hooked in my kindle.  So i'm going to exchange it hopefully for a better one.  Do I need to email them to let them know what I want to do?  I still have the box that it came in.  Thanks!

If you have the leather Amazon cover with NO light that cost about $35. I would recommend you get a different cover. That one may cause problems with your Kindle.

I hear the Oberon covers are good.

Ok I emailed them my parents info and what I wanted to do.  Hopefully i'll hear from someone tomorrow. :)  Thanks Pat!

Keri, don't be surprised if the response to the email asks you to call them. Kindle CS really likes to do things over the phone. The nice thing about that is that you get credit right away, there's a link for you to download the return label right away, and they can otherwise be sure that you're happy with the resolution of the problem right away. 

There's a Call Me Now feature that works great. This may give you a link to that, not sure if it's tied to my cookie: https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/contact-us/kindle-help.html?ie=UTF8&nodeId=200127470&type=email&mode=&skip=true#a   It's in the Help section. 

If you prefer to call them, it's  1-866-321-8851

It took me some getting used to, because I'm accustomed to having CS from various businesses where you email them, and maybe you hear back in a few days and maybe you don't. With Kindle CS, you call them, or you tell them Call Me Now --- and they do and five minutes later you have a resolution to the problem.

Got an email response already and they are sending me a new one that should arrive on the 28th--hoping that one works if not will just have to cancel the whole order I guess and order a totally different new one.  Nice that they did it for no charge.  I'll mail back the defective one sometime this week.  I haven't had any issues with the leather cover yet, hopefully I won't, looks like from the reviews on them that they may have worked out the issues with it.
