Some of these were entertaining--the title story, letters from the bank, IRS, the novel's main character. For most of them, though, I just don't have enough frame of reference to find it amusing. I didn't watch the Mary Tyler Moore show, I've never read Wuthering Heights, and I only know Bob Hope from his GI visits. While I usually caught what the story was about on a broad scale, I missed most of the humor within it. Some, such as Brandy by Firelight, I just completely don't get--if there is a reference to some other thing, I missed it, and I don't see any inherent humor.
